The Democrats won control of the Senate and House of Delegates for the first time in 26 years.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, campaigned for Democrats at a “get-out-the-vote” rally in Sterling with former Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D-Va.) ahead of Tuesday’s election. Biden’s wife Jill also attended a “canvass kick-off” event for Democrats in Fairfax. Virginia Democrats also had actor Alec Baldwin campaigning throughout Northern Virginia in the final weeks before the election.
