Following the Democrats’ exit, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer gave reporters his account of what occurred inside.

“He was insulting, particularly to the Speaker. She kept her cool completely, but he called her a third rate politician. He said that there are communists involved and you guys might like that. I mean, this was not a dialogue,” Schumer said outside of the White House.

Hoyer later clarified that Trump was referring to how there are some communists among those involved in the conflict in Syria.

Pelosi recalled telling Trump, “I wish you were a politician, Mr. President, then you would know the art of the possible.”

Following the meeting, Trump tweeted about Pelosi.

“Nancy Pelosi needs help fast! There is either something wrong with her ‘upstairs,’ or she just plain doesn’t like our great Country. She had a total meltdown in the White House today. It was very sad to watch. Pray for her, she is a very sick person!” he wrote.

Pelosi told reporters that the impeachment inquiry did not come up during the course of the meeting.

Trump posted a photo of Pelosi standing and pointing at him during the meeting and wrote “Nervous Nancy’s unhinged meltdown!” The speaker later used the photo on her Twitter profile.

He also shared a photo of 3 empty chairs in the cabinet room where Pelosi, Schumer and House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer were sitting before leaving.
