VIDEO: Omar Won't Say if Campaign Consultant's Wife Is Telling the Truth About Her Affair

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) on Capitol Hill

WASHINGTON — In a recent divorce filing, Beth Mynett claimed her husband Tim Mynett had an affair with Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) while her campaign was paying him for political consulting services, but Omar has refused to address the allegation.

Since the summer of 2018, Mynett has reportedly been paid $220,000 for his services and travel expenses. The National Legal and Policy Center filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) alleging that Omar failed to itemize the expenses.

Omar declined to comment on Mrs. Mynett’s claims.

“Is Tim Mynett’s wife telling the truth about your affair?” Omar was asked on Capitol Hill after a press conference. “Have you violated campaign finance law at all?”

Omar did not answer.

According to the divorce papers, the “defendant’s more recent travel and long work hours now appear to be more related to his affair with Rep. Omar than with his actual work commitments.”

When asked if she had any response to the alleged campaign finance violations, Omar said, “Our lawyers have responded to that” and walked away.
