Fake Conservative Website The Bulwark Shocked by POTUS Confidant's 'Head on a Pike' Comment

It’s a new day and that means there’s a new major controversy — a very shocking one! — involving President Donald Trump or, at the very least, one of his allies. The outrage is this time centered on a statement by one of the president’s confidants telling Republican senators in a rather blunt way that they’d better not vote against Trump. Or else.

The claim comes from CBS News. According to the network’s Nancy Cordes, an adviser to the president told her that GOP senators were warned: “Vote against the president and your head will be on a pike.”

In his daily morning email to subscribers, The Bulwark’s Charlie Sykes pretends to be shocked! by the warning. “Think of the impeachment trial as a split screen: one screen is the detailed (and quite compelling) evidence and arguments being made on the senate floor; on the other, the politics of the 2020 GOP, in which no dissent is tolerated and fawning is de rigueur,” the supposedly conservative commentator writes. “You were hoping for Margaret Chase Smith. Instead, you get Marsha Blackburn.”

He then quotes a tweet from Sen. Blackburn criticizing “whistleblower” Alexander Vindman. According to Blackburn, Vindman isn’t half as patriotic as his supporters would have us believe. After all, “How patriotic is it to badmouth and ridicule our great nation in front of Russia, America’s greatest enemy?”

Sykes’ conclusion? “Exit take: It will get worse, because for pols like Blackburn… there really is no bottom.” Tie that into the “head on a pike” comment and, voila, Sykes has proven — in his own watery eyes at least — that the Trumpian Republican Party is a mere shell of its former self. You know, back when Republicans didn’t have the heart to fight back against Democrats out of fear for an angry leftist media.

This is ridiculous. If this is all Trump’s critics have to work with, they have a very serious problem. Apparently, the president’s actual policies are so effective that they’re left grasping at straws, criticizing hyperbole.

Pathetic.
