CNN Elated Over Unsubstantiated Rumor that the Trumps May Sleep in Different Bedrooms

CNN is salivating over a new “unauthorized biography” of Melania Trump, most likely full of lies, called “Free, Melania” by Kate Bennett. Bennett is also a CNN journalist tasked with covering the first lady. I wonder how long her press pass will be valid after her shoddy attempt to cash in on the subject she’s supposed to objectively cover for news purposes. Bennett alleges in the book that Melania Trump keeps her own suite, where she sleeps separately from her husband. If true, this is not news.

My parents have been married for over thirty-five years. As soon as they bought a house big enough, they kept separate rooms for most of our lives. This can happen for many reasons. For one, most people prefer to sleep alone and if finances allow it, keep separate quarters to avoid snoring and other sleep disturbances that come with sharing a bed. Love has nothing to do with wanting a good night’s sleep.

My parents are happily married still, while keeping separate sleeping arrangements. Some people keep different sleep schedules, one being night owlish and the other an early-to-bed type, which can also get in the way of peaceful sleeping. Some people prefer to sleep in a cold room while others like it warm. Some must have a radio on in order to sleep and others need silence. There are any number of reasons why some married people might want to sleep alone and none of them equal disharmony.

But is this even true? It’s being reported by CNN, so probably not. But if it were, it’s not the scandal that squeaky Brian Stelter seems to think it is.

CNN’s fount of information always seems to come from “unnamed sources” whom no one can verify. How do they continue to get away with being called a “news” organization when they use worse sourcing than the National Enquirer? This is literally CNN’s evidence for the rumor that Melania sleeps alone: “It is true the first couple doesn’t share a bedroom, according to several sources, and the first lady prefers her own large, private space in a suite of rooms on a separate floor.”

Several sources? Who? Name them. Let them come forward and tell us how they know where the first lady sleeps. If these are people in the White House, blabbing to reporters about private matters, they should be fired.

But are there such people? Or is CNN just making stuff up, like Newsweek’s Jessica Kwong, who made up the president’s Thanksgiving plans? Shouldn’t these reporters have to verify their sources with an editor at the very least? I know PJ Media is alternative media, but our editors demand more proof than “unnamed sources say.” This makes us far more credible than CNN.

If we’re being honest here, and I always am, if I had the option of having a large, private space in a suite of rooms all to myself, you better believe I’d take it. I don’t think Mr. Fox would mind, either, no longer having to play cover wars all night long or being disturbed by allergy season and midnight coughing fits. That’s not an indication we aren’t happy or have fallen out of love. We’re just sleep-deprived.

While CNN is drooling over this latest “scandal” there must be news going on somewhere in the world. If only they could find some.
