Turns Out Jussie Smollett Didn't Do It, or Something

It’s only been two months since Jussie Smollett perpetrated a hate-crime hoax, falsely claiming that Trump supporters, armed with bleach and a noose, attacked him outside a Subway sandwich shop on one of the coldest nights in Chicago history. And it’s only been five weeks since his tearful interview on Good Morning America, and his subsequent humiliation as his ridiculous story unraveled and the truth came out. But it seems like a lot longer, doesn’t it?

If you were worried that justice wouldn’t be done, if you assumed that Chicago’s reputation as the most corrupt city in America would be proven yet again…

CBS News:

All criminal charges against “Empire” actor” Jussie Smollett have been dropped and “his record has been wiped clean,” his attorney said Tuesday in a statement…

Smollett was making an “emergency court appearance” Tuesday morning in Chicago, according to a media release.

Oh. Okay. Never mind, then!

This has never been about justice. It’s about social justice. Smollett is black and gay, so it’s unfair to punish him for his crimes because of all the bad things that have happened to black people and gay people throughout history. He’s not an individual who did something wrong. He’s a symbol of the injustices perpetrated upon oppressed peoples by evil white folks.

Or something like that. We must not rest until we find Jussie Smollett’s real attackers, right?

Now that the Russian collusion story has utterly collapsed, the #Resistance will take any victory they can get. To them, Smollett’s crime wasn’t smearing Trump supporters. It was getting caught. Can’t blame the guy for trying, right?
