This Former Hamas Member, Born in Ramallah, Slammed the Palestinian Authority

Speaking at the United Nations for the group UN Watch, Mosab Hassan Yousef, a former Hamas member who was born in Ramallah, shocked everyone by slamming the Palestinian Authority. His organization released this video, and it really exposes several problems that the UN has when dealing with Israel and the Palestinians.

Firstly, the video highlights the fact that, often, it’s the world’s worst abusers of human rights (North Korea, Venezuela, Iran) that chide Israel. Israel is by far the greatest recipient of UN condemnations, but is definitely not the biggest abuser.

But then it gets into the meat of what Yousef is there to say. He decried the Palestinian Authority for a “total violation of [Palestinians’] human rights.” He claimed the Palestinian leaders “kidnap Palestinian students from campus and torture them in your jails. [They] torture political rivals.” Yousef argued that “the suffering of the Palestinian people is the outcome of your selfish political interests. You [the Palestinian Authority] are the greatest enemy of the Palestinian people.” He said they “use this platform to mislead the international community, to mislead Palestinian society, to believe that Israel is responsible for the problems you create.”

Watching the faces of the Palestinian representatives, and other Islamic nations, as they hear Yousef’s testimony is priceless.
