In Layton, Utah, high school students are not only worried about passing their exams, but now need to be scared about contracting rabies. That’s because of the recent bat infestation at their school, predominantly in their auditorium. According to local news station, ABC 4 Utah, there are now over 1,500 bats on the school campus; and the company that is responsible for removing the bats says that they have removed approximately 400 per night.

Students have been expressly asked to avoid touching the bats and not to go near them, even if the bats are dead. But not every student has heeded the advice. Seven students have been taken to the hospital for exposure to rabies. Even amidst all of these goings-on, the school is still in session.
