Orrin Hatch Honors Clarence Thomas on His 25th Anniversary of Senate Confirmation

Sen. Hatch (R-UT) reviews Clarence Thomas’ story — to be a black man born into a poor southern town and a house with no indoor plumbing, and to overcome such hurdles to become a U.S. Supreme Court justice. Twenty-five years ago today, Thomas was confirmed by the U.S. Senate, and he has served diligently and faithfully on the bench ever since. He never wavers from his principles, and never wavers from the Constitution. I have had the privilege of meeting Justice Thomas in his chambers at the Supreme Court, and count that as one of deepest honors of my life. Just as Senator Orrin Hatch is doing, let’s honor Justice Thomas’ incredible life story today, and honor his 25 years of principled dedication to our judicial system.
