American Exceptionalism

Senators Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell introduced a “Senate resolution yesterday that strongly backs Israel against Hamas in Gaza”:http://www.commentarymagazine.com/blogs/index.php/rubin/49541, and it passed unanimously.
Americans are really exceptional. Nearly alone are we willing to side with a democracy against “an avowedly genocidal terrorist army”:http://www.mideastweb.org/hamas.htm that seeks to eradicate it.
UPDATE: The House of Representatives “did the same”:http://www.commentarymagazine.com/blogs/index.php/rubin/49912. 390 voted for it. Four Democrats voted against it, as did Republican Ron Paul from Texas.
