Chicago Justice on Display: Man Who Nearly Beat Train Passenger to Death Walks Free

Chicago justice strikes again. Which is to say that, thanks to the liberal policies on crime in the Windy City, another vicious, violent scumbag walked away from a horrific assault without even receiving a slap on the wrist. How long are the people of this city going to put up with leadership that favors criminals over the law-abiding? When is enough truly enough?

A man almost beat another passenger to death on a Chicago train and will not suffer any consequences for his actions, according to local media reports. Court records indicate that Jesus Ramirez, 45, will not spend a single day behind bars for assaulting a passenger on board a CTA Pink Line train on April 10, 2024. Calling this a miscarriage of justice would be an understatement.

A report from CWBChicago says Ramirez pleaded guilty to aggravated battery earlier this week. A judge initially sentenced him to two years in prison but credited him for being electronically monitored for more than a year. Illinois law further reduced the sentence. So apparently, in Chicago, nearly beating someone to death does not count as attempted murder. A person capable of this level of violence will surely reoffend. Next time, he might just finish the job. That puts more blood on the hands of soft-on-crime liberal politicians.

Ramirez allegedly approached a passenger on board the train and, for thrills and chills, punched the person in the face. That apparently whet his appetite for carnage, because he continued to punch and kick the victim over and over. You might think this kind of hate and anger could only stem from some connection between the attacker and the victim—that the victim must have wronged Ramirez in some way. You would be wrong. The two did not know each other at all.

They exchanged a few words, and that’s when things took a turn for the worst. Surveillance video captured the entire attack, and the Chicago Police Department released photos of Ramirez to the public in an effort to catch him. Why even bother solving these kinds of crimes if the perpetrator will face no consequences?

The victim spent a week in a coma, followed by two months in the hospital with a scattered brain bleed, traumatic brain injury, broken ribs, a temporal bone fracture, ear damage, and a fractured nasal bone. It’s hard to say what’s worse: the fact that Ramirez got off the hook, or that other passengers on the train sat and watched the nightmare unfold.

A wise man once said that evil triumphs when good men do nothing. This video offers a prime example for the world to see. Have we really become a society that completely lacks courage? Or does fear of legal consequences stop people from acting? Daniel Penny, a man who helped stop a dangerous individual on a train, ended up on trial for murder and came dangerously close to punishment for doing the right thing. That’s enough to discourage anyone from getting involved.

Ramirez was booked into the Cook County Jail on charges of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm. However, three months later, he was released with an ankle monitor. This man should never be allowed to see the sunshine again, yet he's out and about, free to inflict harm or even death on another innocent person.
