The European Union Plans to 'Push Britain Over the Cliff'

According to Sir Andrew Cahn, ex-chief executive of UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), the European Union plans to do as much damage to the British economy as it can. The reason? The megalomaniacs in charge of the Grand European Project can’t accept the fact that British voters voted to leave the European Union. And so they have to be punished. Hard.

Surprising? No, not really. If anything, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and the other European leaders are known for being a bunch of petty megalomaniacs. They just can’t abide anyone not playing by their rules. Refuse to share their dream of a “united Europe” and they’ll do their best to utterly and completely destroy you.

Case in point:

Sir Andrew Cahn, ex-chief executive of UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), expressed doubts about Britain being allowed to keep sectors like car manufacturing in the customs union after leaving the EU, while pulling others out.

He spoke after International Trade Secretary Liam Fox, whose department replaced UKTI this year, in a similar arrangement to Turkey.

“They say ‘we won’t talk to you about a free trade deal, we won’t talk to you about transitional arrangements until you’ve signed up the exit bill’.

“When we do sign up then they will say ‘we can’t talk to you about a free trade deal until you have left’ because that is what the treaties say.”

He continued: “What they are doing is they are pushing Britain closer and closer to the cliff.

“As we get to the cliff in the EU’s classic way there will be an all-night session, the clock will be stopped and it will be taken away from the nerds like me and given to the politicians to sort it [the Brexit deal].”

According to “Sir Andrew,” this is more or less what Britain would do if the roles were reversed. But is it? It seems to me that Prime Minister Theresa May is doing everything in her power to make Brexit happen in a way that does as little damage to both the EU and the UK as possible. She’s not out to “hurt” anyone. She just wants to do what her people want her to do: quit the EU.

Apparently, Brussels’ approach is the complete opposite. And that tells us all we need to know about the gang in charge of the European project.
