Pure Insanity: President of European Commission Calls Fidel Castro a 'Hero to Many'

This is pure insanity and it’s also one of the main reasons increasingly more Europeans distrust those in charge of the European Union:

Juncker — from Luxembourg — is the president of the European Commission, which is the EU’s executive body. It’s “responsible for proposing legislation, implementing decisions, upholding the EU treaties and,” most important of all, “managing the day-to-day business of the EU.”

You’d expect that the president of that body would at the very least support human rights and condemn those who routinely act in defiance of them. After all, if there’s one thing the EU wants to be known for, it’s just that: taking a stand for “human rights” and the “equality of all people.”

Well, apparently not so much. Fidel Castro was one of the worst dictators of the 20th century. And that’s saying something. The man routinely locked up all those who dared criticize him, even in the privacy of their own home. While in prison, they were tortured and often even killed. Castro ruled his people with an iron fist, which is why millions of Cubans fled their fatherland and moved abroad.

And those were the lucky ones. Those who remained behind — because they couldn’t flee or simply didn’t have the courage to — were all too often literally beaten into submission.

That’s the man Juncker calls “a hero to many.” It’s absolutely disgraceful and it’s an insult to all those brave Cubans who took a stand against Castro and for liberty… and who paid for it with their freedom or even with their lives.
