Ted Cruz Says He Might Restart Campaign with a Nebraska Win

Senator Ted Cruz, who suspended his presidential campaign last week after losing to Donald Trump in Indiana, hinted at a possible return to the race if he wins Nebraska today:

On Glenn Beck’s radio show this morning, Cruz said:

We launched this campaign intending to win. The reason we suspended our campaign was that with the Indiana loss, I felt there was no path to victory. If that changes, we will certainly respond accordingly.

The chances that Cruz will actually do so are, of course, rather small — people tend to vote for the presumed nominee once they have one. But the fact that some are entertaining this possibility is yet another sign that Trump may be the weakest (presumed) nominee in the Republican Party’s history.

We already knew that Trump was weak, but the last few days have been amazing. I’ve never seen a presumed nominee implode the way Trump has imploded. He gave the media a story that the Republican Party was falling apart, and they ran with it. He could have reached out to Cruz conservatives, explaining how he’d make America great again by implementing conservative policies.

Trump embraced raising the minimum wage. He said he wanted to change the GOP’s party platform with regards to abortion. He told conservative voters that he didn’t need them … because he can draw socialists from the Sanders’ camp.

Way to go, Don. Your opposition couldn’t have undermined your own campaign more effectively.

Cruz will not win Nebraska tonight, and he will not get back into the race. (I’ll be the first one to sign up for his campaign again if I’m wrong). But good Lord, what a clumsy fool Donald Trump is that he still can’t close a “deal” even though he has no opponents left.
