Something strange is happening on the left.
Democrats are poised — by nearly every conventional measure — to have a strong showing in November’s midterm elections. The polls favor them. The generic ballot favors them. History favors them. I could try to sugarcoat the situation, but the truth is the odds are in their favor at this point. Yet, for some reason, Democrats are acting like they’re preparing to lose.
Let me explain.
When you're confident you're going to win, you don't usually spend months lawyering up in advance. So what, exactly, do they know that the polls aren’t showing?
As PJ Media has previously reported, Democrats lead on the generic ballot, and the GOP is hemorrhaging incumbents — retirements are running at historically high levels, which is one of the clearest early warning signs of a party bracing for a bad cycle. By any normal political calculus, Democrats should be projecting confidence.
Instead, they’re peddling conspiracy theories about President Donald Trump and the GOP “stealing” the midterms.
Nancy Pelosi just sat down with MSNOW’s Ali Vitali and warned that Trump and Republicans "may try to creep into the technology and create a false count."
"We have to be on guard as to what they may try to do to the technology,” she warned, then added for good measure that "with this president and the Republicans who have no commitment to the rule of law and doing things the appropriate way — we're ready."

Crazy Nancy just claimed Republicans are gonna hack voting machines to cheat the midterms.
BUT, remember when Democrats swore our elections are the MOST SECURE EVER and cheating is IMPOSSIBLE?

These are not the words of a woman who sees a Democrat wave coming. These are the words of someone laying the groundwork for disputing the election results.
And the thing is, the party seems quite serious about this bizarre conspiracy theory.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said back in January that Democrats "already have teams of both senators and lawyers looking at every way that Trump could try to screw things up," and that "we already have a team to make sure that they count the votes fairly."
ICYMI: Chuck Schumer Is Losing Control of His Party as Democrats Turn On Him
It’s kind of funny if you think about it. Remember, this is the same party that spent years insisting that the 2020 elections were "the most secure in American history.” They wielded this line like a cudgel against anyone who dared to question the results of an election where Joe Biden allegedly got 81 million votes. How do we go from an election being hailed by Democrats as the most secure in history to, six years later, spreading conspiracy theories about Trump hacking election results, preemptively warning about stolen elections, mobilizing armies of lawyers, and preparing litigation before a single vote has been cast in November 2026?
It doesn’t make sense.
From where I sit, there is really only one way to read this. Democrats can’t genuinely believe Republicans have the ability to hack the elections. That’s pretty stupid. The only possible explanation here is that they are strategically laying the groundwork to contest results they're not actually so confident about.
I keep turning this over in my head, and that makes the most sense. They have a ready-made explanation if November doesn't go the way the polls are currently predicting.
