We’ve all noticed how the left rushes to turn every story into a rallying cry before the facts even come out. That's exactly what happened with two recent shootings involving federal agents in Minneapolis. The pattern is getting harder to ignore: activists and their media allies scream victim first, ask questions later, and hope the truth gets buried under all the outrage.
When Renee Good was shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis earlier this month, the media and Democrats in Congress pushed a heartbreaking narrative that she was just a mom who'd dropped her kid off at school, that she was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and that she was scared and trying to escape. Some politicians and pundits called her a legal observer who was simply monitoring ICE activities.

None of that was actually true. She wasn’t some random bystander caught in chaos. She was linked to organized ICE monitoring networks and was there specifically to obstruct an ICE operation. Worst of all were the claims that she never hit the ICE agent with her car, or was trying to steer away from him. Video evidence proved that it was not the case.
The left didn’t care about the facts; they cared about the narrative.
Then there’s last week’s shooting involving armed agitator Alex Pretti. The media gaslighting continued. You can’t see an article about the incident that paints him as a harmless, selfless, gentle ICU nurse who wouldn’t hurt a fly. But, in the past few days, we’ve learned he was also part of a local ICE watch group, and, on Tuesday, we learned that a week before his death, he suffered a broken rib while assaulting ICE agents.
Why does this matter? Well, Pretti sure had a knack for getting into altercations with federal law enforcement. Clearly, he knew exactly what he was getting himself into when he brought a loaded gun and extra magazines to the ICE operation on Saturday.
Perhaps there are other incidents we don’t know about yet, too. Remember, his parents had warned him not to do “anything stupid.”
"We had this discussion with him two weeks ago or so, you know, that go ahead and protest, but do not engage, do not do anything stupid, basically," Pretti’s father, Michael, said. "And he said he knows that. He knew that.”

It’s really starting to look like he didn’t know, and in fact deliberately made stupid decisions, including his final stupid decision that got him killed.
Now, remember, a lot of people have been jumping to conclusions and basing opinions on smartphone video evidence. But we know there’s bodycam footage that will tell us even more. The rush to judgment before the facts come out is dangerous and dishonest. It's designed to stir up anger and lock in a narrative before anyone can point out that things might not have been as simple as the headlines suggest.
The body camera footage will be released eventually. Until then, maybe the media and politicians could try waiting for more information before jumping to the most politically opportunistic conclusion. Sadly, I’m not convinced they will.
