The Obama Brand Is Dead

There was once a time when the Obamas seemed to have the Midas touch. Anything they attached their names to would be an instant success because everyone on the left loved Barack and Michelle. They’ve won Emmy Awards, Grammy Awards, a Nobel Peace Prize, and two presidential terms just for being who they are.

But their star power has lost much of its shine. Michelle Obama’s latest venture, an unlistenable podcast that you’d sooner chew broken glass than listen to, is officially a flop.

"Michelle Obama's new podcast with her brother Craig Robinson has failed to meet expectations after it launched with great fanfare in early March," reports The Daily Mail. "The new media venture, titled, IMO [In My Opinion] with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson, follows the sibling duo as they give advice, discuss current events, and interview a variety of special guests."

The podcast is struggling to gain traction, currently sitting at a disappointing 34th place on Spotify’s charts. These lackluster numbers come amid growing speculation about the state of the Obamas’ marriage, fueled by Barack Obama’s solo appearances at the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter and President Trump's inauguration.

The spectacular failure of Michelle Obama's new podcast isn't just embarrassing; it's a sign that the Obama brand just isn’t what it used to be. Dare I say, it is dead.

Sure, they still have name recognition and all the benefits that come with that — just ask Kamala Harris, who remains the top contender for the 2028 Democratic Party nomination despite being a billion-dollar failure. The market has made up its mind about the Obamas, and, after years of the media treating them like American royalty, their star power has fizzled out in the face of reality.

The numbers don't lie. Michelle's new podcast "IMO" is performing so poorly that it's almost painful to watch. Despite a massive marketing push and celebrity guest promises, the show is barely managing to stay in the top 40 on major platforms, and conservative voices like Tucker Carlson and Joe Rogan are crushing it. The YouTube numbers are even more devastating, with recent clips struggling to hit 10,000 views, numbers that would embarrass a middle-tier social media influencer, let alone a former First Lady.

"The new podcast by Michelle Obama and her brother Craig has accomplished one thing — it has exposed them as two boring people with zero creativity and nothing interesting to say,” filmmaker Joel Gilbert observed in a post on X. “That's why the podcast is tanking!"

This collapse in public interest isn’t happening in a vacuum, and the timing speaks volumes. With Trump back in the White House, you’d expect the left’s Obama nostalgia to be in overdrive. But instead, at a moment when progressives should be clamoring for even the slightest crumbs from the Obamas, the silence is deafening. Their carefully crafted image of intellectual superiority and moral authority is crumbling.

Remember when the mainstream media insisted Michelle Obama was the Democrats' secret weapon? That she could step in and save the party at any moment? Those claims look ridiculous now.

Friendly media coverage and lucrative deals with companies like Netflix and Spotify have propped up the Obama industrial complex for years. But you can only coast on past glory for so long. Americans have moved on, and they're voting with their attention spans.
