The latest battle between President Trump and activist liberal judges has reached a boiling point, with an Obama-appointed judge attempting to interfere with the deportation of dangerous gang members under the Alien Enemies Act—and failing spectacularly. Now President Trump is calling for the judge to be impeached, and Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts is weighing in.
As we’ve reported before, D.C. District Court Judge James Boasberg, a typical leftist judicial activist, tried flexing his authority where he had none by issuing a temporary restraining order to halt deportation operations of Tren de Aragua and MS-13 gang members. He literally ordered the plane to turn around. There was just one small problem: The plane was already over international waters, well beyond his jurisdiction, and the deportation continued as planned.
But the flex was made, and President Trump called for Boasberg to be impeached.
“This Radical Left Lunatic of a Judge, a troublemaker and agitator who was sadly appointed by Barack Hussein Obama, was not elected President - He didn't WIN the popular VOTE (by a lot!), he didn't WIN ALL SEVEN SWING STATES, he didn't WIN 2,750 to 525 Counties, HE DIDN'T WIN ANYTHING!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. “I'm just doing what the VOTERS wanted me to do. This judge, like many of the Crooked Judges' I am forced to appear before, should be IMPEACHED!!! WE DON'T WANT VICIOUS, VIOLENT, AND DEMENTED CRIMINALS, MANY OF THEM DERANGED MURDERERS, IN OUR COUNTRY. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”
Chief Justice John Roberts, however, rushed to Boasberg's defense.
“For more than two centuries, it has been established that impeachment is not an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a judicial decision,” Roberts said in a statement. “The normal appellate review process exists for that purpose."

While it’s true that the appellate process exists to review rulings, this situation goes far beyond a mere legal disagreement. We are seeing activist judges at the district court level throwing separation of powers out the window and telling the executive branch how to do its job. As I previously noted, not only did Trump have the law on his side, but the Supreme Court had previously affirmed the right for presidents to use the Alien Enemies Act, even when we are not engaged in an actual war.
"If Chief Justice Roberts wants to minimize attacks on out of control appointed leftwing district court judges abusing their role and claiming to be able to overrule the elected President of the United States on management details that are clearly within his role as defined by the Constitution and the Federalist Papers then he should intervene and overrule these absurd power grabs,” former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said in a post on X. “The Chief Justice can defend the Court by overruling bad judges before the Executive and Legislative Branches start acting against them. The burden is on the Chief Justice not the President."
The reality is simple: These activist judges, emboldened by their lifetime appointments, are desperately trying to obstruct President Trump's America First agenda. This isn't just about one judge making a ruling Trump disagrees with. We have seen a pattern of judicial activism that threatens the constitutional separation of powers. The Supreme Court needs to step in and remind these lower court judges that they don't have the authority to micromanage presidential powers clearly defined in the Constitution.
Until then, President Trump should continue doing exactly what the American people elected him to do: Putting America first and removing dangerous criminal aliens from our streets, regardless of what activist judges might say.
