Did Joe Biden Even Want Peace in Ukraine?

While running for president in 2020, Joe Biden hilariously claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin didn’t want him to be president because he was the only candidate “who’s ever gone toe-to-toe with him.” And then Joe Biden took office, Putin invaded Ukraine, and we’ve been funding Ukraine’s war effort ever since.

Since Donald Trump was sworn in, a significant change has emerged in U.S. policy regarding the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict: instead of endlessly funding the war, Trump is trying to end it. On Wednesday, the president spoke with both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and it feels like we’re closer to the war ending than ever before.

Trump revealed in a post on Truth Social that he had a "lengthy and highly productive" conversation with Putin, focusing on initiating immediate negotiations to resolve the Ukraine crisis. Notably, he mentioned the involvement of experienced negotiators like Marco Rubio, John Ratcliffe, Mike Waltz, and Sam Witkoff, and he emphasized a willingness for the leaders to visit each other's nations. This signals a readiness for serious discussions that can potentially change the trajectory of the war.

Following his call with Putin, Trump reached out to Zelenskyy, ensuring Ukraine remained in the loop about his talks with Russia. He underscored the urgency to commence peace negotiations, reportedly saying he would reach out to Zelenskyy "right now" to discuss next steps.

“But first, as we both agreed, we want to stop the millions of deaths taking place in the War with Russia/Ukraine. President Putin even used my very strong Campaign motto of, ‘COMMON SENSE,’” Trump wrote. “We both believe very strongly in it.”

Trump continued, “We agreed to work together, very closely, including visiting each other’s Nations. We have also agreed to have our respective teams start negotiations immediately, and we will begin by calling President Zelenskyy, of Ukraine, to inform him of the conversation, something which I will be doing right now.”

This proactive communication stands in stark contrast to the bottomless-wallet diplomacy of the Biden administration, which only threw money at the problem.

As he said he would, Trump spoke with Zelenskyy shortly after speaking with Putin.

“I just spoke to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine,” Trump reported Wednesday afternoon. “The conversation went very well. He, like President Putin, wants to make PEACE. We discussed a variety of topics having to do with the War, but mostly, the meeting that is being set up on Friday in Munich, where Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio will lead the Delegation.”

Trump expressed that he is “hopeful” that the meeting will be productive and have a positive outcome. “It is time to stop this ridiculous War, where there has been massive, and totally unnecessary, DEATH and DESTRUCTION.”

Donald Trump's approach to the Russia-Ukraine conflict emphasizes negotiation over escalation. He has called for an "immediate ceasefire," highlighting that both sides want to end the fighting — which contrasts sharply with Joe Biden’s passive support for Ukraine.

By engaging directly with Putin and Zelenskyy, Trump is proving he’s serious about brokering peace. Can anyone recall Joe Biden doing that? Didn’t think so.

At this point, I have to wonder: Did Biden ever really want peace?

We now know that nearly $100 billion in Ukraine aid has vanished without a trace. Where did it go? Was “war funding” just a convenient excuse for Biden to funnel taxpayer money into corrupt left-wing pet projects?
