For decades, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has operated with little to no real accountability. While the media paints a picture of billions in humanitarian aid flowing overseas, the reality is far different. Far too much of that money funds projects that push leftist agendas — turning USAID into little more than a slush fund for the radical left’s most radical causes. And we got the receipts.
Take, for instance, the $1.5 million allocated to advance DEI in Serbia's workplaces or $70,000 on the production of a "DEI musical" in Ireland. According to the Daily Mail, the Irish DEI musical fund was approved specifically to “deliver a live musical event promoting the shared U.S.-Irish values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility,” as stated in the grant.
Why are American taxpayers footing the bill for these ideological initiatives abroad when so many at home are struggling? Why is our foreign aid agency investing in theatrical productions when our own citizens face rising living costs and economic uncertainty? Shouldn't our focus be on ensuring that aid directly benefits those in need, both domestically and internationally?
Recent projects include a $47,000 investment in a "transgender opera" in Colombia and $32,000 for a "transgender comic book" in Peru. These expenditures seem less about genuine aid and more about bureaucratic self-indulgence. Are these really the best ways to represent American values on the global stage, or are they simply efforts to advance personal agendas at the taxpayers’ expense?

In an even more alarming revelation, USAID has allocated $2 million for sex changes and "LGBT activism" in Guatemala. This isn’t humanitarian aid; this is American taxpayers funding DEI on a global scale, all without congressional oversight. The same people crying about how “no one voted for Elon Musk” have zero issues with the fact that unelected people have been doling out millions and billions of dollars to promote the radical left agenda around the globe.
Actually, this is exactly why they’re outraged that Musk is cleaning house. I don’t doubt that USAID does some noble things, but what has the Democrats’ knickers in a twist is that their slush fund for worldwide DEI is shutting down, and if they want to fund a transgender opera in Colombia or a DEI musical in Ireland, they’re going to have to fund it on Capitol Hill with congressional approval and oversight.
It's about time that they face accountability for how taxpayer dollars are spent.
In addition to promoting DEI and gender ideology, USAID’s unchecked spending raises urgent concerns about misplaced priorities and outright corruption. Recently, the agency allocated $2.5 million for electric vehicles in Vietnam and $6 million for tourism in Egypt. Why are we funding these?
More alarming is USAID's history of financing organizations linked to terrorism, as PJ Media’s Victoria Taft previously reported, including accidentally providing “hundreds of thousands of meals” to al-Qaeda-affiliated fighters in Syria. USAID also indirectly supported the Taliban, bolstering Afghanistan's poppy trade. Such reckless expenditures demonstrate a critical disconnect from American foreign aid principles. Additionally, it has funneled millions to EcoHealth Alliance, the group associated with Wuhan lab research, which is particularly troubling in the wake of the COVID pandemic.
The radical left needed USAID to fund its radical agenda worldwide, and now the gravy train is ending. That's why it is so upset.
