Joe Biden Is No Friend to Israel

Publicly, Joe Biden has taken the side of Israel in the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, and this public support has come at a political cost.

According to a recent Gallup poll, his approval rating among Democrats has dropped 11 percentage points in the past month to 75 percent—the lowest approval of his presidency. According to Gallup’s analysis, this decline in support is directly related to his public support of Israel following the barbaric October 7 attack by Hamas terrorists. Why? Because there’s a growing faction in the Democratic Party that is blatantly anti-Semitic and believes that Biden is aligned too closely with Israel and not doing enough for the Palestinians.

But let’s not pretend that Joe Biden’s support for Israel isn't mostly for the cameras. Biden can tell his tall tales about how he “grew up” in a Jewish synagogue until he’s blue in the face, and he can hold news conferences with Benjamin Netanyahu all day long, but that won’t change the fact that he is not the ally to Israel many perceive him to be.

For starters, the Biden administration reportedly tried to cover up that they knew about the planned assault on Israel. Leaks from U.S. intelligence suggest that some in the administration fear being held responsible for missing critical information about the planning of the deadly attack. The Biden administration also repeatedly claimed that Iran wasn’t involved in the planning or financing of the Hamas terror attack—something we  know to be false. The administration pushed this false narrative because they had just unfrozen $6 billion in Iranian assets a month before the terror attack.

Biden’s handling of the Israel-Hamas war has also been nothing to brag about. Biden repeatedly sought to get Israel to postpone its ground assault in Gaza, even forcing a delay by not having adequate defenses in place at U.S. military installations in the area. He then later called for a ceas-fire—he called it a “pause”—which is exactly what Hamas wants.

And it gets worse. As you may recall, mere days after the Hamas terror attack on Israel, I noted how the attack was a lesson on the dangers of gun control. Israel had gun control measures in place at the time of the attack and loosened them soon after to allow citizens the opportunity to protect themselves. How many lives could have been saved if more citizens had been armed? We’ll never know, but it took this tragedy for the Israeli government to acknowledge the importance of being armed for protection. It’s a lesson the Biden administration hasn’t learned, because the Biden administration put a hold on a request by the Israel to purchase thousands of M-16 rifles, requiring that Israel guarantee the guns won't be given to Israeli civilians in the West Bank.

"The Jewish state urgently requested the United States sell it thousands of M-16 rifles following the Hamas terror group’s Oct. 7 slaughter of more than 1,400 unarmed Israeli citizens. But the Biden administration would not approve the sale until Israel guaranteed the critical weapons would not reach civilian outposts in the West Bank, which the Biden administration and its Democratic allies view as occupied territory,” reports the Washington Free Beacon. Essentially, Joe Biden is imposing gun control on Israel at the worst possible time for the country. This is the same guy who wants to give Iran a pathway to nuclear weapons. Yet he doesn’t want Israeli citizens to have the ability to protect themselves. Does this sound like something a friend of Israel would do? Of course not.

There’s a reason why I always use the phrase “public support” when I talk about Biden’s “support” for Israel. It’s what he does behind the scenes that really tells us how he really feels.
