Chris Matthews Compares Bernie's Nevada Victory to Nazi Germany's Defeat of France

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews has made it repeatedly clear that he thinks Bernie Sanders is headed to certain defeat should he win the Democratic Party nomination. He’s right, of course, and while the Bernie Bros. already aren’t happy with him, he once again triggered Bernie’s fans on Saturday night. When Bernie pulled off a stunning victory in the Nevada caucuses, Matthews declared it was “too late” to stop him, and compared Sanders’ victory to Hitler’s invasion of France.

“I was reading last night about the fall of France in the summer of 1940 and the general, Reynaud, calls up Churchill and says, ‘It’s over,'” Matthews explained. “And Churchill says, ‘How can that be? You’ve got the greatest army in Europe. How can it be over?’ He said, ‘It’s over.'”

Lest we forget, Democrats in Congress have compared Trump to Hitler in the past, and Bernie Sanders has compared the United States to Nazi Germany as well, but his supporters couldn’t handle the shoe being on the other foot.

How many of these people think comparisons between Trump and Hitler are okay?

Anyway, there was also some amusing commentary from the other side:

Let’s be honest here, Bernie’s fans only care that Bernie was compared to Hitler. Republicans, particularly Republican presidents and presidential candidates, have been likened to Hitler for as long as I can remember. It’s the default comparison made by the left of anyone on the right—even though Hitler and the Nazi Party were socialist. Instead of being outraged at Bernie being compared to Hitler, perhaps they should be calling for an end to all Hitler comparisons. It contributes nothing to the political discussion and generally demonstrates a lack of knowledge of history.
