'Dark Psychic Forces' or Overdue Enlightenment?

Amusing as she may be with her Department of Peace and throwback pleas for love and understanding, Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson’s “dark psychic forces” comment revealed her as a card-carrying member of the extremist left. A similar trope was floated by the Washington Post with the histrionic: “Democracy dies in darkness.”

What Williamson and the Post evoke with this phrasing is a boldface charge of racism aimed at President Trump and every deplorable citizen aligned with him.

You know who you are.

Williamson’s DPF comment was made in the context of the Flint, Mich., water crisis at the second Democrat debate, and highlighted by strong inference the racist history of the United States vis a vis African Americans.

But as the national electorate will be constantly reminded by the  New York Times, racism runs in only one direction: from Trump and Trumpservatives toward all people of color. So, it follows that on the issue of immigration, Trump and his supporters are considered by Williamson and the left to be as racist against immigrants of any color as they are against African American citizens. In their view, every Trump immigration policy is racist: the wall he campaigned on, the travel ban, changes to asylum laws, potential rewrites of anchor baby and chain migration policy, an end to dangerous immigrant lotteries, and other proposals/actions aimed at curtailing mass illegal immigration.

What really concerns the open borders left is that what they see as “darkness” is actually a long-overdue enlightenment.

Americans have fully awakened and know the nation is in danger from a real force. A human tsunami, enabled by a Marxist, globalist ideology that seeks to render national identity archaic and replace it with a to-be-determined centralized power.

In Marianne’s world, and in the worldview of every serious remaining Democrat contender except Biden (who halfheartedly raised his hand when free healthcare for illegals came up at the first Dem debate—he knows better), darkness comes when we protect our borders. When we have borders. That’s because they know they will never win again if they are forced to rely on the votes of legal citizens, even legal immigrants, who comprise the middle and working classes of the country. It is truly lights-out for the Democratic Party if they can’t continue to aid and abet an illegal invasion.

A majority that can and will win national elections see immigration as the paramount issue, and if they weren’t already up to speed on the issue, have become enlightened. They see that immigrants are being encouraged, getting benefits, programs, leniencies, and other societal encouragements that ordinary citizens don’t easily qualify for, or are not eligible for at all. They see the madness of sanctuary cities and states. This causes a staggering degree of resentment and anger which, by the way, for the vast majority, has nothing to do with race.

Adding injury to insult, a just-released Department of Justice report, confirms that criminal illegal aliens represent 64% of all federal arrests. Marianne Williamson hasn’t yet gotten the memo. This, from the immigration page of her campaign website:

The actual rate of criminality among immigrants—even the undocumented—is lower, not higher, than the rate of criminality among our non-immigrant citizens. Both documented and undocumented immigrants are 46% less likely than native born U.S. citizens to commit a crime or be incarcerated.

As Fox News host Laura Ingraham said on her show last Friday night, “When they tell you this, they are lying.”

Williamson has been amusing, in a benign way, because she never had a prayer of becoming president. She offered respite from scorched earth, providing a therapeutic interlude with a comely guru whose lack of political resume was a blessing. There was something genuine about her willingness to proffer New Age psychobabble on the national political stage that cried out for pseudo-serious attention.

But scratch the surface of the touchy-feely aspects of her rhetoric and you’ll find that Williamson is just another wacky liberal—emphasis on wacky–who believes that your identification with being an American citizen, and desire to preserve American sovereignty, is a dark psychic force.
