Good Wednesday morning.
Here is what’s on the president’s agenda today:
- The president receives his intelligence briefing
- President Trump has lunch with the Secretary of State
There’s a crisis at the border…suddenly
Now that the Democrats admit there is a crisis at the border, they have shifted to blaming the Trump administration for the crisis. Where were all these humanitarians when the same things were happening under the Obama administration? I don’t believe for one second any of these people really, really care about the children or the migrants in detention because the “crisis” only really, really mattered to them when it could be used for partisan advantage. That’s right, the headline-seeking groups, lawyers, politicians and advocates aren’t outraged about the children or the women or the migrants, they care about getting political gain from their exhibitions. Have any of these outrage mongers offered any solutions to over crowded, backed up border facilities? I haven’t seen any plans or proposals that would ameliorate the chaos at the border from the “oh, the humanity!” crowd. How do you fix this? Your protests, your hearings, your border visits aren’t solutions.

Where were the visits? Where were the protests? Where were the hearings?

No citizenship question on the census
The Trump administration has decided to proceed printing the census without including a question about the citizenship of the respondent. The Supreme Court left the issue open to be re-argued, but rejected “its claim in court that it was a solely a request of the Justice Department for help enforcing the Voting Rights Act.” Time is running out to start printing the census so the administration made a decision to proceed without it. I can’t imagine why people would oppose the government knowing how many people living here are citizens and how many are not unless the reason is to weaponize or suppress value-neutral information that may not serve their interests.
CNN wants you to know the battle isn’t over yet.
Even without the question on the census forms, it remains unclear if the Census Bureau will still publish a file of citizenship data when it releases the census results in early 2021. The bureau’s chief scientist, John Abowd, said in May that regardless of the high court’s decision, the bureau was operating as if it was still expected to produce the data using so-called administrative records compiled from government data.
If the bureau does so, it could set the stage for another legal battle over who counts for the purpose of drawing congressional districts.
The president vented on Twitter.
A very sad time for America when the Supreme Court of the United States won’t allow a question of “Is this person a Citizen of the United States?” to be asked on the #2020 Census! Going on for a long time. I have asked the Department of Commerce and the Department of Justice….

Fourth of July freak-out
President Trump wants a big celebration on the Fourth of July and he’s getting some blowback from the usual suspects. He’s got tanks and airplanes on the ready, maybe it’s part of a massive take over? The Left’s response is to deploy the…big giant Trump balloon.
The president will deliver remarks at the Lincoln Memorial at 6:30 p.m. during a “Salute to America” on the Fourth of July. The group who got a permit for the balloon is sad because it “is not in the location we requested — within line of sight of the Lincoln Memorial where President Trump will be speaking.” Everyone who plans to tune in to the president’s address is thankful they won’t have to see that giant mess.
Joy Reid, part of the MSNBC brain trust, thinks the celebration is really a threat. Don’t they always?
“What is the message Donald Trump is trying to send by rolling tanks down Constitution Avenue? Who is that message to?” she asked.
“It’s certainly not to tyrants because he likes tyrants, he loves tyrants. It’s not to Putin, it’s not to Kim Jong-un, not to the Saudis. Is it to our friends, to Western democracies who he doesn’t particularly like, or is it to us? Is it to the resistance in this country? ‘I got tanks. I have this military armada.'”
“The message is a threat, but it’s always a threat when you roll out your military. But it’s to whom is the threat, and I suspect that the threat is to his fellow Americans. And I hate to say that, but I think that Donald Trump styles himself a tyrant, not a defeater of tyrants.”
Well Joy, if Trump is a tyrant, you wouldn’t be sitting on MSNBC clapping your mouth, you’d be Warmbier’d.
Navy SEAL Gallagher found not guilty
Yesterday, Navy SEAL Edward Gallagher was found of not guilty of killing an ISIS prisoner, but he was convicted of taking a picture with a dead body.
This case took a wild turn when, like on TV, one of the witnesses claimed to be the actual murderer. “In a shocking twist during the trial, Special Operator 1st Class Corey Scott, a Navy medic, testified he saw Gallagher stab the ISIS prisoner, but that it was Scott who suffocated the prisoner to death as an act of mercy.”
He will be sentenced on Wednesday for the selfie charge.
