The Morning Briefing: Trump Nopes Out of Chuck & Nancy Meeting, Nadler's Booster Seat Inside

(AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite)

Good Thursday morning.

Here is what’s on the president’s agenda today:

  • The president meets with the Secretary of Energy
  • President Trump delivers remarks on supporting America’s farmers and ranchers

Trump walks out on Chuck and Nancy

So Speaker of the House Pelosi talks to the press before her scheduled meeting with President Trump on infrastructure, insults him and accuses him of a “cover-up” and obstructing justice and everyone gets the vapors when Trump has no interest in making deals with the Democrats.

What cover-up is she talking about? That he doesn’t want to start the Mueller investigation 2.0 congressional edition? The Democrats keep ignoring the findings of the Mueller report. Nothing was covered up there. Or is she saying that Mueller was incomplete in his investigation? It’s not clear and the pathetic media won’t ask her for clarification.

The Democrats aren’t serious about impeachment. Why don’t they get rid of Nancy and put Maxine Waters in charge of the House and then they can impeach? Assuming behind closed doors they have the support to do so, of course.

Chuck and Nancy arrived at the White House only to get snubbed when Trump told them they can either get stuff done or engage in harassment to smear and undermine him — they can’t do both. Then he dropped the mic and walked right on out. BYE FELICIA.

Pelosi accused Trump of having a temper tantrum. “Sadly, the only job the President seems to be concerned with is his own. He threatened to stop working with Democrats on all legislation unless we end oversight of his Administration and he had a temper tantrum for us all to see,” Pelosi wrote. Trump fired back.

“In a letter to her House colleagues, Nancy Pelosi said: ‘President Trump had a temper tantrum for us all to see.’ This is not true,” tweeted the commander-in-chief on Wednesday night. “I was purposely very polite and calm, much as I was minutes later with the press in the Rose Garden. Can be easily proven. It is all such a lie!”

No, Nancy. It’s the Dems Who Are Engaged in a ‘Cover-Up’

Trump admin moves to stop “nationwide” injunctions

“These nationwide injunctions have frustrated presidential policy for most of the president’s term with no clear end in sight,” Attorney General William Barr said in a speech Tuesday. “One judge can, in effect, cancel the policy with the stroke of the pen.”

Barr, along with Veep Pence, has been working to curb the federal court system that’s out of control.

“We believe that needs to change,” Pence said on “Fox News @ Night” last week. “We believe that’s really a distortion of the separation of powers and the balance of powers in our constitution. And so we’re going to be looking for a case to take the issue of national injunctions all the way to the Supreme Court.”

There have been more injunctions from federal courts during the Trump administration than all other administrations combined.

The ACLU is the most active group pushing for these injunctions. “The judge is refusing to let the government off the hook for the mess it made,” said Lee Gelernt, deputy director of the ACLU’s Immigrants’ Rights Project.

“I suspect the Supreme Court is going to weigh in at some point on this just because it nationwide injunction being increasingly prevalent in recent years,” said Thomas Dupree, a former Bush principal deputy assistant attorney general. “And there’s a lot of unsettled law in this area about how far as a single district court’s power projects. Can a single judge apply his or her ruling across the nation and different courts give different answers to that.”

Is this Jerry Nadler’s booster seat?

One of my many, well-connected contacts in the government’s “seat” of power sent me this picture of Rep. Jerry Nadler’s (D-NY) chair in the Judiciary Committee room and it looks he is using a booster seat cushion.

Nadler is 5’4″, by the way. It certainly re-enforces the idea that the Democrats are childish. What are your thoughts? Does it look like there is some extra cushioning on that seat? It’s awfully thick. Let me know your ideas in the comments.
