I laughed so hard I cried

Since it’s Monday and we have a whole week of work (for those of us who are willing to work) ahead of us, here’s something to put a smile on your face. Make sure you have the audio turned on so you can hear Tater melting down:

Investigation-palooza

The House Democrats are rested and ready to go! Not to work on the people’s business, mind you, but to commence more investigations into the president, his family members, and subordinates.

The House Judiciary Committee will seek documents from more than 60 people and organizations as it begins investigations into possible obstruction of justice and abuse of power by President Donald Trump, the panel’s chairman said on Sunday.

“We are going to initiate investigations into abuses of power, into corruption … and into obstruction of justice,” Nadler said. “It’s our job to protect the rule of law.”

“It’s very clear that the president obstructed justice,” Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) said. He said it was too soon to consider whether impeachment should be pursued, however.

It’s just a harassment campaign. If there are enough investigations and the investigations go on for long enough, they will eventually find a crime.

We don’t have the facts yet, but we’re going to initiate proper investigations,” he said. “Before you impeach somebody, you have to persuade the American public that it ought to happen.”

And no investigation threat is complete without Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), chair of the House Intelligence Committee (HPSCI) meowing for the media on the Sunday spin shows. This idiot has been spitting about crimes and all the evidence of Trump crimes for more than two years and has produced not one scintilla of evidence. And yet the media continues to give him a platform to make his baseless accusations.

“I think there is direct evidence in the e-mails from the Russians through their intermediary offering dirt on Hillary Clinton as part of what is described in writing as the Russian government effort to help elect Donald Trump,” Schiff told CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

“They offer that dirt. There is an acceptance of that offer in writing from the president’s son, Don Jr., and there is overt acts in furtherance of that.”

Nevertheless, he persists.

Schiff confirmed his committee is “looking at persistent allegations that the Russians have been laundering money through the Trump Organization” – though he admitted he didn’t know whether those claims were true.

That probe will include talking to banks that have done business with Trump as well as “accountants, the chief financial officers for the Trump Organization and others who would have information about the Moscow Trump Tower deal,” Schiff said.

Rand will not support the president’s emergency declaration

Senator Rand Paul will not support President Trump’s emergency declaration to get the funds necessary to build the wall on the southern border.

I would literally lose my political soul if I decided to treat President Trump different than President Obama. (Although, I’ll note, not one Democrat criticized Obama for his executive orders.)

I support President Trump. I supported his fight to get funding for the wall from Republicans and Democrats alike, and I share his view that we need more and better border security.

However, I cannot support the use of emergency powers to get more funding, so I will be voting to disapprove of his declaration when it comes before the Senate.

Paul also thinks the SCOTUS will strike down his declaration. “Without question, the president’s order for more wall money contradicts the will of Congress and will, in all likelihood, be struck down by the Supreme Court.” Eh, we will see. I don’t know, I’m not a lawyer.

The Senate probably has enough votes to go the way of the House, which passed a resolution opposing Trump’s declaration. Trump has said he will veto the resolution and the Democrats do not have the votes needed to override that veto.
