If you have noticed that you’re missing some mail, there might be a very good explanation for it. It seems that a postal worker who had resigned in early September from the Roxborough Station Post Office in Philadelphia was a bit unprofessional when it came to his or her last mail delivery.
Several boxes full of thousands of envelopes were left on the side of the road in Pennsauken, N.J. (about 15 miles from the Philadelphia post office in question). Facbook user Kewnoneal Bennett spotted the pile and posted a picture of it to Facebook. He wrote: “If your [sic] looking for your mail it maybe on river road by 36st station…share this post ppl information is out on the street.”
According to NJ.com, the worker at the center of the incident was not named by Special Agent Scott Balfour, who works with the U.S. Postal Service Inspector General. Balfour mentioned that there will not be any action taken against the former worker. He also declined to give a motive for the abandonment of the mail.
The situation will be handled by the Roxborough Station Post Office, which will take responsibility for getting the mail delivered to where it needs to go.
