In another chilling example of social media gone wrong, Casey James Lawhorn, 22, took to Facebook recently to confess to murder. The Tennessee man went into grisly detail as he described killing his mother and his friend. The post has since been deleted.

Lawhorn’s Facebook post read in part:

I need to emphasize that I take full responsibility for my actions. Nothing anyone has or hasn’t done to me caused this, my decisions and my failures are my own. Technical Details: This morning, at around 01:30, I shot and killed my mother (Vi Lawhorn) and a close friend of mine (Avery Gaines) with a stolen .22 LR.

The young man described how he shot his friend, who was sleeping on the floor, in the head, causing him to die instantly. When he went to shoot his mother, who was apparently intoxicated, his gun jammed. He left the room to fix the problem, and when he returned, he shot her several times until she died.

Lawhorn asked his Facebook friends to spare him their thoughts, prayers and forgiveness. He instead asked that people help his brother through what was sure to be a very difficult time. He expressed remorse for the pain that he ultimately caused his brother.

In perhaps the most disturbing part of the social media post, Lawhorn remarked on what it felt like to murder. He wrote: “I’ve barely felt anything.”

According to police, he was later found dead in Vossburg, Miss., about 100 yards from his abandoned car, which had broken down.
