Startling Video Shows Baby Crawling Out of Mother's Womb During C-section

Some mums take the news hard that they may not be able to have a natural childbirth, but a new birthing trend called a “natural cesarean” may make it a little easier. The doctor makes an incision into the mother’s abdomen during the c-section. The baby delivers himself by slowly wiggling his way out of the mother’s body beginning with the head, followed by the shoulders, and eventually the rest of his body. The process can take over 4 minutes to complete.

Childbirth educator Sophie Messager posted a natural cesarean birthing video on Facebook on behalf of her friend, where it has been viewed nearly 3 million times!

“A friend had the most gorgeous gentle cesarean yesterday – it was quite a journey because her local hospital refused to entertain any of her wishes. So she had to move to another hospital where she found the most supportive consultant (Dr. Andy Simm at Nottingham City hospital), who not only agreed to support all her wishes but filmed the birth to use it to educate other health pros,” said Messager. The mother’s demands included no drapes and the doctors waiting to cut the umbilical cord until it had stopped pulsating with blood.”I especially loved watching the baby walking himself out of the womb,” she added.

This method may not be for everyone, but it is interesting. Time will tell whether this is the new frontier in c-sections, or just another trend with a short shelf life. You can read more about it here.
