Trey Gowdy: Dem Presidential Hopeful Eric Swalwell 'Ought to Scare the Ever-Living Hell Out of You'

While speaking with Fox News’ Martha MacCallum, former South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy lit into Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) over comments the Democrat presidential hopeful made about President Trump.

In case you’re unfamiliar with Swalwell, he’s a presidential candidate who believes that patronizing people of color and women will fool them into voting for him. In a condescending tweet, he declared, “I’m a white man” while promising to adhere to the rules of identity politics and “pass the mic” and “ask a woman to serve as VP.” In the tweet, he linked to a video of an interview he gave on MSNBC in which he spoke about the need for white people to see color. Sounds awfully close to a colonial mindset, if you ask me. I have little doubt that people of color in this country — as well as women — will see through his smarmy act. Trey Gowdy definitely does, having little use for Swalwell’s bluster and obvious attempts at self-promotion (the man has no shot at the presidency).

After Martha MacCallum showed him a clip of Swalwell claiming that President Trump “acts on Russia’s behalf,” Gowdy responded that the idea of President Eric Swalwell “ought to scare the ever-living hell out of you, Martha. His last sentence [in the clip] is exactly the difference between a prosecutor and a politician. Prosecutors prove that you did something. Politicians make you prove you did not.”
