Twitter Protects Planned Parenthood While Censoring Rep. Marsha Blackburn

Yesterday afternoon, Twitter made the decision to censor a campaign ad released by Marsha Blackburn. The conservative congresswoman from Tennessee mentioned the illegal sale of body parts by Planned Parenthood in the ad, and drew the ire of Twitter. Considering that Twitter spokesman Nick Pacilio previously worked as Kamala Harris’ press secretary, this censorship by Twitter is not surprising.

Congresswoman Blackburn is running for the Senate seat being vacated by Bob Corker. In the ad, Blackburn talks about her efforts to stop Planned Parenthood from selling the body parts of babies. Twitter responded swiftly by pulling the ad over the statement because, in their words, it contains an “inflammatory statement that is likely to evoke a strong negative reaction.”

One would hope that being confronted with the truth about Planned Parenthood’s evil would “evoke a strong negative reaction.” In fact, it’s probably safe to assume that Congresswoman Blackburn was counting on that reaction. Sadly, Twitter and their fellow apologists for Planned Parenthood would prefer that people not be exposed to the truth about the evil realities of abortion.

Demonstrating their bias towards Planned Parenthood, the social media giant informed the Blackburn campaign that if her sentence about Planned Parenthood selling the body parts of babies is removed, the ad can be run on their platform.

In other words, while actively protecting Planned Parenthood, Twitter is demanding that Congresswoman Blackburn remove factual information. Videos that were released by pro-life activist David Daleiden clearly revealed that Planned Parenthood engages in the illegal sale of body parts harvested from murdered babies. Outraged, the left attacked the videos as illegal since the subjects were recorded without their consent. Threatening Daleiden with jail time, suppressing the videos, and engaging in all-out harassment of pro-life activists, supporters of Planned Parenthood have refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing on the part of the abortion provider.

Known for her commitment to the pro-life movement, Congresswoman Blackburn reveals in the banned video, “I’m 100% pro-life. I fought Planned Parenthood, and we stopped the sale of baby body parts.”

That’s the line that caused Twitter to censor the video.

After the undercover videos were released by David Daleiden, supporters of Planned Parenthood claimed that fetal tissue aids in research into Down syndrome and other issues. As the chair of the congressional panel tasked with investigating Planned Parenthood’s sale of body parts, Congresswoman Blackburn hit back by retorting that the body parts harvested from murdered babies make “a vanishingly small contribution to clinical and research efforts, if it contributes at all.”

To be clear, Blackburn wasn’t prevented from posting the video on her Twitter account; the video isn’t allowed to be used as an ad. While subtle, the action by Twitter is still censorship. Preventing Congresswoman Blackburn from reaching possible voters who don’t follow her on Twitter amounts to Twitter picking a side in the Senate race. Granted, due to the uproar, the campaign ad will probably now go viral. Planned Parenthood and Twitter are probably wishing that they had simply and quietly let the ad run.
