GOP Challenger Joe Walsh: 'The Republican Party Is a Cult'

Joe Walsh is challenging Donald Trump for the GOP nomination in 2020. As such, you might think Walsh has a persuasive argument for why he would represent the Republicans better than Trump does. You might think Walsh would be reaching out to the people he’s asking to vote for him.

You would be wrong.

Rebecca Klar, The Hill:

Former Rep. Joe Walsh (Ill.), one of three Republicans challenging President Trump in 2020, called the GOP a “cult” and the president a “would-be dictator” as he denounced the decision to scrap primaries in some states.

“I’ve given up on the Republican Party, the Republican Party is a cult, right. They no longer stand for ideals. The Republican Party right now is all about washing their leaders’ feet every day, that’s what they do,” Walsh said Monday on CNN.

Joe Walsh isn’t going to be the GOP nominee in 2020, of course. But at least he can still go on cable news and yell at all the people he very loudly agreed with for years, right up until the minute he decided he wanted to run for president. He’s every bit as confident now as he was when he said the exact opposite.

Don’t listen to this Joe Walsh:

That was the old Joe Walsh. That was the Joe Walsh who hated cuck RINO traitors like me for not listening to him in 2016. The new Joe Walsh hates cuck RINO traitors like me for not listening to him in 2019.

Trump is going to be the GOP nominee, and he’s probably going to beat whichever Democrat they end up nominating. It doesn’t matter whether Joe Walsh likes it, or I like it, or anybody else likes it. It is what it is. But if he can get some TV time and free meals out of pretending otherwise, he’s not hurting anybody. Go with God, Joe Walsh.
