Cisco Unveils New Edge Router

Nothing can replace speed.  With internet traffic expected to double every year through 2012, not to mention the growing crush of wireless users and the availability of mega video downloads, speed becomes a critical component to the usefulness of any network.  Towards that goal, ‘edge’ routers are growing in interest. Placed at the outer edges of a network and closer to the user, these routers can speed the movement of data more quickly by storing information outside the core of the system. Cisco hopes that with growing net demands, its new offering will help prop up the company through lean times.
