Justice Dept. Hires Anti-Trust Heavyweight To Take On Google

In apparent preparation for an anticipated battle with Google, the Justice Department has hired heavyweight Sanford Litvack, former anti-trust Justice chief under President Carter.  Reports coming out of the beltway are that Justice has been deposing witnesses and issuing subpoenas for documents surrounding the Google – Yahoo ad deal.  Speculation is that the scope of the investigation into Google may expand beyond the proposed Yahoo deal and examine Goggles activities in the entire online ad market.  Add to this the Commerce committee investigations into online privacy and it looks like a busy fall in DC for Google lawyers.
