Online Threats Cost Consumers $8.5 Billion Over Last Two Years

According to the upcoming issue of Consumer Reports, consumers have lost billions of dollars over the past two years due to computer viruses and spyware.  The magazine’s poll indicated that 19% of users do not own security software to fend off attacks, which is probably why over 2 million consumers ended up buying new computers due to malware infections.  Every cloud has a silver lining.
