Intel Announces New Plans for SoC's

In an effort to expand it’s presence in the embedded processor market, Intel has announced that it is working to step up its system on a chip (SoC) development efforts.  The company sees a growing need for multifunctional processing and says that SoCs will combine microprocessor functionality with other capabilities such as networking, voice communications and video decoding. The company’s SoC unitiatives have been around a while but now they must be seeing the pay-off ahead.
