The Very Definition of Bad Optics

“It’s hard to know what’s more offensive, Jim Hoft of Gateway Pundit writes. “That they desecrated the flag, or that they’re pushing a product that reminds Americans of the slaughter in Benghazi?”

That horrifying terror attack in Benghazi alone could serve as the trailer for Dinesh D’Souza’s 2016: Obama’s America, and a warning of many more disasters to come, Roger L. Simon noted this morning. Why would you want to do anything to remind voters of this nightmarish incident? But then, as Ann Althouse observed about another questionable semiotic choice early in the Obama’s administration’s run, just as Hopenchange was beginning to run smack into the brick wall reality, ““People who like Obama are blinded to the way other people see him.”

Speaking of which, much more from Instapundit (who deadpans, “I guess the handwriting is on the wall.”), including a link to Byron York in the Washington Examiner who notes, “Actress Jessica Alba asks voters to pledge allegiance to Obama.”

Yes, personally pledging your allegiance to a messianic figure who seeks to replace centuries of tradition with a cult of personality has never worked out poorly over the past century…

Update: An Exit Question from Bryan Preston: “Would Obama friend Bill Ayers tread on Barack Obama’s new flag?”

Incidentally, I referenced “many more disasters to come” in the above post — they seem to arriving at a Fast & Furious pace these days, if you’ll pardon the pun: the American Embassy in Pakistan is now under attack.
