'The Most Failed Urban Environment in the Nation'
Forget Weimar cities -- at this point, Detroit is simply a why city, the Michigan-based BlogProf writes:
Want to see the result of unfettered Democrat hegemonic domination? Welcome to Detroit, the most liberal city in the US by voting record:2008 General Election results-DEM: 96.93% GOP: 2.65%
2006 General Election results-DEM: 95.05% GOP: 4.33%
2004 General Election results-DEM: 93.61% GOP: 5.93%
Also the most failed urban environment in the nation? Cause-effect? You betcha! The place is crime-ridden beyond description. Detroit is one of most dangerous cities on the PLANET, alongside Baghdad and Beirut, as ranked by CNN this spring. It's so bad that the Detroit government is abdicating its #1 responsibility - protection of the people - to criminals, drug dealers and the homeless. 20% of the city will be without police or fire protection. Apparently, this is supposed to help. Somehow. From the Wall Street Journal: Less Than a Full-Service CityMore than 20% of Detroit's 139 square miles could go without key municipal services under a new plan being developed for the city, with as few as seven neighborhoods seen as meriting the city's full resources.
But the unions will still get full pay. I guarantee it! Union 'workers' in Detroit work only 35 hours per week but get paid for 40, and have 42 days off each year, are covered for Viagra, in addition to receiving Christmas Holiday bonuses....Karla Henderson, a city planning official leading the mayor's campaign, said in an interview Thursday that her staff had deemed just seven to nine sections of Detroit worthy of receiving the city's full resources. She declined to identify the areas, but said the final plan could include a greater number.

Detroit is a city that's been stimulated, Obama administration style, almost literally to death over the past two generations, as Steven Crowder pointed right around this time last year in a video that he produced for PJTV:
