Photographic Metaphor of the Day

As spotted by Jon of the Exurban League, the caption at Yahoo reads:

Rebelann Barfield, left, and her sister November, sit as their mother Khara casts her vote in the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010 in Star, Idaho.

Note the bored, pouting child on the left, who can’t wait for this to be over; the contented child with a non-Michelle Obama-approved sugary treat on the right; and in the center, a voting, empowered mom — perhaps she supported Hillary in 2008, or with those cowgirl boots was a red state GWB/reluctant McCain voter?

In any case, whether it was by happenstance, or artfully staged by the photographer, a terrific compositional metaphor for the day.
