Great Moments In Liberal Recursions

As Colorado-based blogger Liberty Scout quips, “Democrats now running campaign ads detailing why they should be defeated in November:”

Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO) has a simple message for voters: Washington is broken. Well, it’s hard to disagree with that… unless you are a sitting Senator that is part of the problem.

Pretty good ad, right? It makes the perfect case for why Senator Bennet and several other Democrats need to be defeated in November.Bennet claims that Democrats in Washington, D.C. “spend money they don’t have.” That is absolutely correct, but he is part of the problem. Just shortly after being sworn in as Senator, Bennet voted for the $787 billion “stimulus” package that has failed by even the Obama Administration’s measure. Bennet also voted for the outrageously expensive ObamaCare bill that 58 percent of voters want repealed. Neither of these votes portray him as the deficit hawk he is pretending to be in this ad.

Bennet also claims that “the special interests” have too much power in Washington. Again, that is absolutely true, but lobbyists had a record year last year and Democrats controlled both Houses of Congress and the White House in the middle of “the greatest financial crisis since the Great Depression.” Bennet can’t have it both ways. He is either in the Washington establishment, or he isn’t.

Judging by recent polling Colorado voters are taking the Senator’s advice and looking for someone who stands up for them.

If his opponent (or at least his video guy) was smart, he’d incorporate Bennet’s video into his own.

And speaking of senatorial campaign videos, it looks like John McCain has kept his crack YouTube team (which has excellent taste when it comes to “borrowing” ideas!) together from 2008. Perhaps with an eye towards 2012?
