INTERESTING SYMMETRY: I just finished watching an episode of HBO’s “Hard Knocks” training camp mini-series, and then read this thread on what it’s like to be a recording engineer with a band that’s new to recording. It’s an interesting behind the scenes look at why albums invariably take much longer to record than any sane human being thinks they should and why so much money is wasted in the recording industry. It has its share of PG-13+ language, but it’s a fun read if you’re interested in how a rock band is recorded.

UPDATE: Here’s week two of the same diary.
