Barney Frank and/or his ghostwriter spots “‘A British Accent for the Tea Party?” in the Politico:
The insistence by leaders of the tea party and its congressional followers that Republicans, as winners in the 2010 elections, have a right to unilaterally decide what government policy should be is not only inconsistent with the way they responded to Democrats’ even larger 2008 victories; it is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of the Constitution.
The tea party movement asserts that it is the strongest defender of the Constitution. This is ironic given that it is inspired by the American revolt against British rule; that the theory the party is implicitly adopting is not in the U.S. Constitution but the system in Britain.
So what you’re saying is that fellow “progressive” Democrat Woodrow Wilson would approve of the Tea Party?
Well, other than its lack of racism, of course.
