How to Live Pain-Free

I recently read over a book I found at my gym that looked like it would be helpful called The Permanent Pain Cure: The Breakthrough Way to Heal Your Muscle and Joint Pain for Good. I quit doing gym workouts last week on Spring Break and I have to say that I feel much better. That’s not surprising, as taking off every once in a while from working out is a good way to stay pain-free.

Ming Chew is a physical therapist who makes staying pain-free sound simple:

“The Ming Method” for pain relief has worked wonders for New Jersey Nets star Jason Kidd, New York Yankees’ Jason Giambi, movie star Matt Dillon, and other celebrities. Now, licensed physical therapist Ming Chew shares his world-famous program in this illustrated home guide, filled with innovative stretching techniques, hydration and supplementation tips, and prevention strategies. His method doesn’t just manage the pain, it cures it―for good.

One good idea I saw in the book was to try stretching and doing exercises after being off pain meds for a while to see how your body feels. If you are taking Advil, etc. all the time, it’s hard to tell what hurts and what doesn’t. On the other hand, without pain killers, one could be in pain all the time. It’s a tough call. However, it would be nice to be pain-free in more natural ways than reaching for Tylenol, Aleve, etc. It might be worth a try.
