GOP Has a Record-Smashing Cash Advantage over Dems, and Better Ground Game

You might not know this because the mainstream media hasn’t exactly been trumpeting it — but the Republican National Committee is having a record-smashing fundraising year and can boast a major cash advantage over the Democrats. Even better —they’re using their booty to out-hustle the Dems in GOTV efforts.

The RNC raked in $14.2 million in July — bringing its war chest for the 2018 election cycle to $227.2 million.

That’s more than it raised in the same month in 2010 and 2014 combined, The Washington Examiner reported. And it’s the greatest monthly haul the RNC has ever received during a non-presidential election year.

The Dems, on the other hand, have raised only $109 million as of the end of June, according to Federal Election Commission records.

Democrats raised around $6 million and $8 million in May and June, respectively, but have not released their July numbers yet.

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said the flood of money into the RNC was the result of “unprecedented” grassroots support for Trump and the GOP.

The RNC is putting the spoils to good use.

“We’ve built the biggest field program we’ve ever had to defend our majorities in the House and Senate. History might be against us, but we’re making sure every voter knows we’re the party of results. All the Democrats have is resistance,” McDaniel said in a statement.

Republicans have figured out that an early ground game is essential in these days of early voting and absentee voting weeks before the election. In many areas, over 50 percent of the vote will be cast before Election Day. So starting GOTV efforts a week before the election is not going to cut it.

In the next few months, the GOP will be identifying the voters they need and trying to convince them to vote for Republicans.

In an attempt to out-do the former organizer-in-chief Barack Obama, the RNC has already made a record shattering 30 million voter contacts by phone or door-knocking this election cycle, The Washington Examiner reported on Monday.

GOP officials said that the party is a month ahead of schedule and better off than it was at this time in 2016 “when it out-hustled the Democrats,” leading to Trump’s shocking win over presumed winner Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The unusually aggressive ground campaign was designed to build a Republican grassroots effort. The RNC turned to its Republican Leadership Initiative Fellowship and it has locked in 20,000 fellows, four times its voter outreach force of just two years ago.

The party called the program a “game changer” in 2016 and has high hopes for this year when many polls show the GOP losing control of the House.

The 20,000 fellows are being trained and dispatched as “neighborhood team leaders” and “core team leaders.”

And they are getting the credit for making the 30 million voter contacts in calls and door-to-door shoe leather.

“Enthusiasm is up and Americans want to see this great comeback continue. We see that reflected in our record fundraising and in our surge of new volunteers who have already helped us connect with millions of voters,” RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel said in a statement last month. “We are not leaving a single vote unturned and we are ready to defy history this November.”

Meanwhile, the Paul Ryan-backed Congressional Leadership Fund announced on Friday that they are opening new field offices in Texas, Kansas, North Carolina, and Illinois, bringing the number of offices to 40 nationwide.

Committed to doing things differently this midterm election cycle, CLF has now opened 40 field offices and made over 18 million targeted voter contacts across the country as part of our national field program,” said Corry Bliss, CLF’s executive director, in a statement.

“With over 6,000 CLF interns and volunteers, we’re knocking on doors and making calls to ensure voters know how their member of Congress is getting results for them, and we’ve been doing this since February 2017. CLF will continue these efforts throughout the fall as we work to ensure Nancy Pelosi does not become speaker,” Bliss said.

Billionaire couple Sheldon and Miriam Adelson dropped a cool $30 million on CLF in May, and gave another $25 million to the Senate Leadership Fund in July, bringing their support for the GOP to $55 million so far this cycle.

Koch Industries donated a total of $600,000 to the super PAC this cycle.

Republicans have more money, more organization, and the built-in structural advantage of incumbency. Not to mention better ideas and policies that actually work.

What do the Democrats have?

Policy-wise, they have sanctuary cities, abolishing ICE, raising taxes, ObamaCare, kneeling for the national anthem, political correctness and kvetching about Trump. They may as well bring back transgender bathrooms, too.

Supposedly, Dems have an edge in voter enthusiasm and history on their side. They also have lots of self-esteem, confidence, and cheerleaders in the MSM who are convinced that a big blue wave is coming in November.

Looking at the map for November, even if Democrats were to win back all of the competitive Republican vacant seats, they would still come up short of gaining the majority. On top of that, Republicans are favored in several of these open races and even have a few promising pickup opportunities, two of which are in the state of Minnesota.

Any pathway for the Democrats to retake the House majority will require them to defeat Republican incumbents in swing districts. However, it is precisely these Republican incumbents who have done the hard work in their districts for years. They have superior brands, loyal followings, access to resources and other key advantages.

A recent CNN poll showed that 57 percent of Americans are happy with the way things are going in the U.S. today, the largest proportion to share these sentiments since January 2007. A recent Gallup poll had similar findings: Satisfaction with U.S. Direction Reaches 12-Year High.

House Republicans unveiled their “Better Off Now” message that makes the connection between GOP policies and record low unemployment, a surging economy, higher take-home pay, and a strengthened military. If Republicans can effectively sell this track record of success, the “blue wave” will fizzle and more Americans will reward GOP incumbents for working to create this booming economy.

“The media keeps talking about the energy on the left. Let me tell you — we see the energy on the right in this fundraising,” RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel said on Fox Business Monday night. “A lot of it’s coming from small-dollar donors who support President Trump. They are fueling the support of the RNC, which we are directly putting in our ground game in 28 states.”
