President Trump is still railing against Attorney General Jeff Sessions in private meetings, according to reports. Monday evening representatives of several conservative, religious, and anti-abortion groups joined the president for dinner to talk about his new tax plan. According to multiple sources, the president used the occasion to vent about Sessions’ decision to recuse himself from the Justice Department’s probe of Russian meddling in the 2016 election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign.
“He recused himself on Russia, which he should never have done,” Trump reportedly lamented.
“You could feel it dripping with venom. It was something else,” one guest added.
“He basically told everyone in the room to go tell Sessions to get moving,” said another guest.
Another report stated, “Others said the conversation about the embattled attorney general — whom Trump called ‘an idiot’ during an earlier dust-up — was less tense.”
“He’s candid, which shows respect for his guests,” American Conservative Union chairman Matt Schlapp told the Wall Street Journal.
One individual said Trump told guests that his attacks on NFL players and NBA star Steph Curry had “really taken off.”
“He was happy. He feels like he’s clearly winning that exchange,” the person said.
Trump’s comments came after weeks of intense criticism from his conservative allies in the media regarding the administration’s failure to investigate Obama-era corruption and “drain the swamp.” None have been as vocal as the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch.
On Sept. 15, J.W. hosted a panel to discuss their report about the unelected government of the United States, often referred to as the deep state or administrative state.
The Epoch Times reported: “According to Judicial Watch, the deep state is a bureaucracy of permanent officials in branches across the U.S. government who share a common far-left agenda and use their positions to selectively enforce or block actions based on their own interests. Being in unelected positions, the deep state is able to continue its activities regardless of who the sitting president is.”
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton voiced his frustration with the deep state at a Tea Party Patriots “Keep Your Promises” rally in Washington, D.C., on Saturday.
“The Trump administration is being undermined from within by the deep-state bureaucrats who oppose him ideologically and stand against his agenda to de-administer the administrative state,” Fitton declared.
“Why is John Koskinen still IRS commissioner?” he asked. “Why is the Justice Department every day in every way protecting Hillary Clinton?”
“Judicial Watch is in court against administration lawyers from the Trump administration!” he thundered. “Not the Clinton administration, not the Obama administration, where they are protecting Hillary Clinton’s interests.”
“I want an audit to be done of the Justice Department cover-up of the Hillary Clinton email scandal,” Fitton said. “My guess is, the president wants one too. But either due to insubordination or outright hostility, his appointees do not want to do the work that has been entrusted to them by the American people.”
The president apparently shares Fitton’s frustration.
