Incoming White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci briefed reporters Friday after the resignation of Press Secretary Sean Spicer, confirming that Sara Huckabee Sanders will be taking over Spicer’s role at the podium and wishing the outgoing spokesman well.

“Sean is a true American patriot. He’s a military serviceman. He’s got a great family… and he’s done an amazing job,” Scaramucci said. “This is obviously a difficult situation to be in and I applaud his efforts here and love the guy and I wish him well.” He added, “And I hope he goes on to make a tremendous amount of money.”

Scaramucci threw cold water on speculation that Reince Priebus is the next one out the door.

“He’s a dear friend,” he said. “He was my first call this morning. I met with him before we sat in the Oval Office. And we are committed as true professionals to the team and the process of getting the administration’s message out.”

Scaramucci ended his first press conference with a kiss to the press corps that has constantly been at odds with the Trump White House.
