During a press conference this morning in Indiana, U.S. Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said he will make a major announcement at 4 p.m. but gave no other details. After losing five states to Republican frontrunner Donald Trump on Tuesday, Cruz’s best and possibly last chance of stopping Trump from capturing the Republican presidential nomination is Indiana’s “winner take all” primary on May 3.

There was speculation on social media that the announcement could be the endorsement of IN Gov. Mike Pence, but the governor’s office has confirmed that he will not be at the 4:00 p.m. Cruz rally in Indianapolis.
There is also speculation that Cruz could announce his VP choice, as his campaign has indicated that he could name his running mate as soon as this week. Former Hewlett Packard CEO and failed 2016 GOP contender Carly Fiorina is reportedly among the people being vetted.
WMUR Political Director Josh McElveen reported on Twitter that his sources have confirmed that Cruz has chosen his pick for VP and it will be Fiorina.

Donald Trump, classy and gracious as always, criticized Fiorina as a potential Cruz pick, and pressed his point that he is the “presumptive nominee.”
“I think it would be a bad choice, not because she’s a woman, but because she did not resonate at all with people,” Trump said. “It’s too early to do it. And frankly, he’s wasting his time because he’s not going to be the nominee.”
After yesterday’s drubbing at the polls, it undeniable that the Cruz campaign needs a major boost to regain some momentum. The question is, will this announcement be big enough to propel him to victory next week?
