The fight over who the 2016 GOP presidential nominee should be is an expression of which ideological movement has the dominant position in the party. And it’s a contest between many different philosophies across economics, social issues, and foreign policy. “The Right” is not a monolith where everyone agrees — it’s a loose, squabbling coalition that changes and evolves from decade to decade as the threats facing America change and evolve.
