I know you all want to pretend like 2012 never happened, but if you do you’ll miss out on a little fun because once again it’s time to recap the funniest videos of the year with a politically Right (and by “right” I mean correct) point of view. I thought about writing The Top 10 Ways the 2012 Election Screwed Us Over, but I think this will be more fun. Besides, we did it last year and you really liked it.
These are in order of awesomeness, ending with the most awesome, so if you get bored be sure to jump to the last page for the best. Some of these might be by leftists, but as long as it promoted a Rightist viewpoint I included it for consideration.
Once again I look forward to your blunt, rude, angry comments pointing out videos I’ve overlooked or how I have the order completely wrong, etc. Please, don’t hold yourself back on account of my fragile ego.
So here we go!
# 10. Conan Campaign Slogans
Coming in at 10 — because it’s not technically a video — is a hilarious clip from Conan on TBS. Late-show humor is usually rank with leftist philosophy, and worse, they have a lot of talent on their side. But once in a while that talent betrays the evil empire and comes to the assistance of the rebel forces. This is one of those times.
# 9. It’s a Wonderful Life (with Capitalism)
I found this video amusing, but more importantly, very professionally done. It’s not a laugh-out-loud video, but it’s got some humor and sells the message of capitalism well. Let’s face it, most Right-sided humor is produced in somebody’s shed with a crappy webcam and bad lighting, so this is a rare treat.
# 8. Ryan Girl, Let’s Get Physical
A spoof on Obama Girl, this video is a lot of fun. You have to watch it multiple times to get all the clever song lyrics and clues in the background. For example, I just now noticed the cover of Atlas Shrugged on the bulletin board in the background, and I usually have a keen Atlas Shrugged radar that never fails me.
# 7. Steven Crowder Lena Dunham Parody
Funnyman and Fox contributor Steven Crowder sadly did not produce a ton of content this year — until he got punched by an union guy, but that wasn’t really funny. He did manage to put on his hipster lesbian outfit for this parody of Lena Dunham’s controversial commercial for the Obama campaign. I wish I’d had more of your videos to choose from this year, Mr. Crowder. Get busy!
# 6. Deck the Halls with Macro Follies
Economic issues can be so complicated and hard to relate to our daily experience. I love videos that make economics simple to understand, especially with humor.
# 5. Hey Girl, It’s Paul Ryan
Another song parody with clever lyrics, this song is so catchy you will announce yourself as Paul Ryan for hours after you watch this video (at least in your head).
# 4. Obama Supporter Interviews Her 2008 Self
Last year I excluded my own videos from this list, but this year I’m making an exception because… well, because I can. But really it’s because this was a collaboration, and my very funny and talented collaborator deserves recognition. David Stein of republicanpartyanimals.org and I produced this parody of this viral video, and it got over 2 million hits (if you include the stolen versions still up on YouTube). You could argue that including myself in the top 5 funniest videos of the year is vain, self-absorbed, and exploitative, and to that I would say… and your point is?
# 3. “Eye of the Sparrow” — A Bad Lip Reading of the First Presidential 2012 Debate
I’ve always enjoyed a Bad Lip Reading, except when I misread George H.W. Bush’s lips. I thought he said “no new taxes.” Kind of reminds me of some other Republicans I know. The people over at BLR are always funny, but this one went even more wacky than usual, making for even more lol moments.
# 2. If I Was Your President (A parody of If I Was Your Boyfriend)
This is so good that even with its low-grade production I forgot for a moment that Obama actually won a 2nd term. This is what happens when you have great content — you don’t need fancy lighting to kill.
# 1. Adopt a Terrorist
Surprisingly done by a leftist-ish comedy group, considering they never say the “T” word, especially if there’s a Muslim around. Maybe they should have called this video, “Adopt an Immigrant Youth” or “Adopt a Peaceful Dude.” This is the best of the year because it is not only very funny, but the production quality is high.
There are a lot of jokes in this video you may miss the first time around, so watch it a couple of times. I love it when leftists go so wrong it’s Right.
Happy New Year, Rightists! Don’t ever give up!
