Vox's Matt Yglesias Murders English While Bragging About Brainy Writing

One of the most tedious and enduring qualities exhibited by coastal media bubble elites like Vox.com’s Matt Yglesias is an almost wholly undeserved, smug sense of intellectual superiority which they can’t help but lord over the common folk.

They have a binary view of American critical thinking in which they see themselves occupying lofty planes of braininess and conservatives as being predominantly engaged in clipping coupons for domestic beer.

An amusing byproduct of this tediousness is that they so very often end up looking really stupid whenever they want to remind you how smart they are:

(Our sister site Twitchy has some priceless responses to this here.)

He comes off like the slowest kid in a Yoda class there. The syntax is mangled and if Twitter didn’t have character limits Yglesias may have gone on to completely kill the English language.

Me write smart people better because you no dumb-dumbs here plus participation trophy big thinkie!”

Liberals are forever conflating college education and brilliance, as if intelligence were a gift that could only be conferred by the proper university. Book learning and critical thinking ability are not at all the same thing, of course, but don’t try telling that to someone with an Intersectional Feminist Panda Self-Identification bachelor’s degree from Brown.

Because they are for the most part echo-chamber dwellers, coastal media-bubble inhabitants are actually some of the biggest intellectual lightweights around. It is impossible to sharpen one’s powers of reasoning when spending one’s life surrounded by people whose only arguments are about whether mimosas or Bellinis are the superior brunch beverage.

What’s really entertaining about Yglesias’s claim that the Vox audience is brainy is that Vox’s motto is “Understand the News.” The site also has a daily podcast titled “Today Explained.” The entire freaking business model is predicated upon the notion that their audience is too stupid to figure out the news for themselves.

Matty no doubt has plenty of people telling him he’s the super-smartest boy at the birthday party.

Just don’t let him near a sentence while he’s holding any sharp utensils.
